The following is a document by Ron Wilson that was found in the materials left over from Penguicon 2.0. Adventures in Computerized At-The-Door Registration A History The system was first developped in 1995 for the 1996 ConFusion. It used, and still uses, a web based user interface, originally targetted to the Lynx test mode browser and Netscape 1.2. We had 8 data entry stations staffed by gophers and 2 cashiers for the first deployment.

A DealersRoom is a place to buy collectables, T-shirts, costumes, books, games and other stuff at a ScienceFiction convention. Each dealer pays a certain amount for each table they use, and receives one convention membership with the rental of their first table. The room has certain opening and closing hours and is guarded all night while it's closed. Usually there is only one set of double doors used as an entrance and exit during open hours, to better manage security.

Sometimes extra high-octane coffee is brewed with WaterJoe, with a big warning sign on it. By last count on 11/25/05, we had 8 flats of WaterJoe, which is 182 bottles at 20 oz. each.

Since 2005, Penguicon has hosted a SF/F Writing Workshop with program content each day of the convention. This workshop, open to new or unpublished genre fiction writers, is now well-known as a meaningful experience for all its participants. Website: TBA

Youmacon is the anime convention of the greater Metro Detroit Area. The conchair is MorganKollin. The staff of Youmacon also ran the AnimeProgramming at Penguicon 4.0 in 2006.
