Greetings! I am [[https://plus.google.com/+JohnDBell/about|John D. Bell]], your event coordinator for [[:geekswithguns|Geeks With Guns]]. 2017 will be my seventh (!) Penguicon - * I was "dragged" to my first one by a fellow author in 2011, and I attended much of the Literature track, including Cat Rambo's workshop. * In 2012, I volunteered to lead GwG (even though I hadn't handled a firearm since the mid-70's!), and I attended an assortment of activities in just about all of the tracks. * In 2013, I re-started the martial arts track ([[:actionadventuretrack|Action/Adventure]]), with the very generous assistance of Heather Gutterman and the rest of the staff at [[http://www.polarisfellowship.com|Polaris Fellowship of Weapons Study]]. * In 2014, I presented in the Tech track, plus "all of the above". * In 2015, James Hice and I kicked of the "Penguicon Robot Build". I also presented on some Tech track panels. * In 2016, I presented on a couple of Tech track panels, continued the "Penguicon Robot Build", and .... For 2017, I am going to dial my responsibilities back, and will only coordinate GwG. I'll be attending the annual NTPsec Face-to-Face meeting, helping out on a panel or two, and just otherwise visit with old friends and hang out. Professionally, I'm a computer systems administrator and (rather out-of-date) open source programmer. I'm trying to become a published SF author (several short stories and two novels in (very slow) progress). Please do not hesitate to [[guns@penguicon.org?subject=From the wiki|email]] me with suggestions about how to make GwG (or really, //any// part of Penguicon) better, or if you have any questions. See you all in late April!
