The one who best controls the rivers will control the valley, for the flow of the river carries fortune's tide.

As players, in turn, miss an item, they acquire penalty points (forward movement on the game board). When a player reaches the end of the track, the person who advanced the least is the winner.

Now you're the “leader” (yeah, right) of a rambunctious mixed-gender troop of Sprouts, ranging in age from 10 to 15. Sure, the little kids can be a handful, but the older kids tend to get into big trouble with Sex and Drugs and Rock & Roll, none of which is usually associated with the squeaky-clean KidSprouts of America – and that's the way National likes it. KidSprout Jumboree was the winner of the first piecepack game design contest, “Time Marches On.”

You will learn to deliver tasty burgers and fries anywhere in 30 minutes of less. You will bring honor to your franchise. Failure is not an option. SJ Games MIB event.
* Friday 7:00 pm - Friday 8:00 pm *Gaming Room* Rocks For Sale *GameMaster: DavidWhitcher* (2 to 5 players) In this tongue-in-cheek space opera, players start with surplus spacecraft, explosive charges and massive debt. You will compete with the other hopeful captains to find asteroids containing the most precious metals. Tow these floating treasures back to earth while avoiding stellar phenomenon and stray explosives to become the first to make your fortune. Or at least pay off your credit card.
* Friday 7:00 pm - Friday 8:30 pm *Gaming Room* Morton's List: Cosmic Law Theme Quest *GameMaster: NathanAndren* (unlimited number of players) It is time for Cosmic Law, the Table of food, good times and games. The die and the group will determine the details.
* Friday 7:00 pm - Friday 8:30 pm *Gaming Room* Piecepack Letterbox *GameMaster: RonHale-Evans* (3 to 6 players) Players hide “letterboxes” somewhere on the board and write clues for the other players. Everyone then attempts to find as many letterboxes as possible. A player gains victory points both when she finds other letterboxes and when other players find hers. Piecepack Letterbox was the winner of the first MesomorphGames piecepack design contest, which required the use of at least one expansion set.
* Friday 7:30 pm - Friday 8:30 pm *Promenade East* Sculpting & Painting Miniatures Discussion *GameMaster: LindaMartelle, AndrewBarlow* (any number of participants) Learn and share tricks and tips for painting miniatures.
* Friday 7:30 pm - Friday 9:00 pm *Gaming Room* Bean Trader *GameMaster: ShaunKlein* (3 to 5 players) The players take the roles of bean traders and are members of the famous Bohn Hanse, the union of northern European cities and merchants involved in the bean trade of the middle ages. The players travel from Hanse city to Hanse city in wagons filled with valuable beans, where they can deliver bean orders and buy more beans.
* Friday 7:30 pm - Saturday 1:00 am *Gameing Room* Flex - Wayfarer *GameMaster: ChapakPatrickSmith* (up to 8 players) High on the slopes of the mountain clings a temple. Suddenly, there is a flash of light and the temple disappears in a ball of destruction and flaming debris. Zooming in, a tiny skyship becomes visible fleeing the explosion, ancient and rotted, the spells keeping it aloft are holding … for now. You just have to know your characters are aboard. High adventure and high action in a vaugely non standard fantasy setting. Characters provided, and rules available online (http://tinyurl.com/38rrhz).
* Friday 8:00 pm - Friday 9:00 pm *Gaming Room* Cannon *GameMaster: DavidWhitcher* (2 players) Command your soldiers to capture the enemy town by direct attack or by forming a cannon rank and firing on the enemy from a distance. Can you stop them from invading your town at the same time?
* Friday 8:00 pm - Friday 10:00 pm *Gaming Room* Burn in Hell *GameMaster: WalterSchirmacher* (2 to 5 players) Collect the souls of the damned! In Burn in Hell, you try to assemble the tastiest “Circles” of history's sinners. Trade souls with your rivals, or just steal the ones you need. Collect groups of Mass Murderers, Cannibals, or even Clerics, or build sets of the Seven Deadly Sins. Burn in Hell will keep you on your toes. Can you see the sets that fit together for the most points? Can you steal a rival's key card before he can make a Circle? SJ Games MIB event.
* Friday 8:00 pm - Friday 10:00 pm *Gaming Room* GURPS Faeries - Maddening Mischief *GameMaster: BrentBowmaster* (3 to 8 players) Superstition and supernatural fears rule your remote medieval village. As the resident adventurers, you've often been called upon to rid the area of evil-minded bandits and marauding beasts. This time, someone has offended the creatures of faerie and the village has been plagued by all manner of unexplained and troublesome incidents. It's your task to convince the sprites and tricksters to stop their mischief, or be cast out yourselves!

Just as with those contests, the winner of one contest becomes the judge of the next. The object is to gain the most prestige points by designing high-scoring games and entering them in contests.

* Friday 9:00 pm - Friday 10:30 pm *Gaming Room* Morton's List: Mortal Ties Theme Quest *GameMaster: NathanAndren* (unlimited number of players) Bring a friend and roll with us on the Mortal Ties Table, where we will share 1 of 28 Quests of social shenanigans and hooliganary. Watch strangers turn into friends, acquaintances turn into love interests, and friends turn on each other depending entirely upon the roll of the die.
* Friday 9:00 pm - Friday 11:00 pm *Gaming Room* Call Of Cthulhu: The Source and the End *GameMaster: WilliamJones* (up to 6 players) Join an elite military force attempting to retrieve a scientist from the black-ops lab, “The Temple.” An experiment has gone awry, and the situation must be contained before the nightmarish creation escapes. This is a Cthulhu Now RPG for new and experienced players.

Shadows over Camelot proposes a journey of a very different kind, where you and your fellow players, as Knights of the Round Table, will collaborate to jointly defeat … the game! At first glance, this task seems simple enough. But alas! Your quest is further complicated by the possibility of a traitor in your midst, biding his time, waiting to strike at the worst possible moment!

* Friday 10:00 pm - Saturday 12:30 am *Gaming Room* Platonia *GameMaster: RonHale-Evans* (up to 8 players) The object of the game is to score the most points by creating the best universes. A player creates a universe by writing down one or more rules as part of a program, and then attempting to build a sequence (or several sequences) of cards that follow that program. Complex, enduring, and probable universes score best, but players must balance each of these qualities when assembling universes.
* Friday 10:00 pm - Saturday 1:00 am *Gaming Room* What Happens at the Mall Stays at the Mall *GameMaster: BillKorsak* (up to 8 players) Buffy the Vampire Slayer RPG. So this is going to be totally radical, you just busted up a vampire nest under the Sunnydale Mall, and now you get to enjoy the late night shopping. What is that strange noise you keep hearing? Characters provided and rules taught.

Players are builders who try to contribute the most to this cathedral's construction and, in so doing, score the most victory points.

Dead Man's Island pits pirate against pirate and the dead against all in an adventure of swords, shovels and skullduggery.

* Saturday 11:00 am - Saturday 12:30 pm *Gaming Room* Vegas Showdown *GameMaster: ShaunKlein* (3 to 5 players) Build your own hotel/casino by bidding against the other players to acquire tiles that represent slot machines, lounges, restaurants, and other casino-related places. The player who builds the most famous hotel/casino wins the game.

Participants spend points RPG-style to design their own chess piece. They wear sandwich board signs depicting their movement, which they can flip over to level up. The game lets every chess piece make decisions by auctioning the right to move. Slay other pieces to earn auction cash. Which party of adventurers will work as a team, and which one will just munchkin?

Since Chicago isn't that far away, that shouldn't be too hard. Pre-generated characters will be provided, but feel free to bring your own. Note: this is *not* a White Wolf or Camarilla sanctioned event.
* Saturday 2:30 pm - Saturday 4:00 pm *Gaming Room* Elasund: The First City of Catan *GameMaster: ShaunKlein* (2 to 4 players) Elasund is based on the 'Die Siedler von Catan' novel written by Rebecca Gable, itself based on the original The Settlers of Catan game. In Elasund, players compete and cooperate to build the premier city of Catan.

Central Pacific is a wide open game of building railroads. Build over and tunnel under mountains, through forests. Forge rail links between cities and steal a few of your opponents'.
* Saturday 3:00 pm - Saturday 4:00 pm *Gaming Room* Sitting Ducks Gallery *GameMaster: JenniferToby* (3 to 6 players) Sitting Ducks Gallery is a card game where no duck is safe. Where the object is to maneuver your ducks down the row and avoid getting in the line of fire! Get your ducks out of the water before feathers start flying, because cards can target, shoot, or move the line in various ways! If your birds of a feather can stick together and keep from getting hit, you could be the last Sitting Duck in the lake!
* Saturday 3:00 pm - Saturday 4:00 pm *Gaming Room* World Gauntlet Federation *GameMaster: DavidWhitcher* (2 to 5 players) The fantasy game of pro gauntlet running. As a professional gauntlet runner, you vie for fame and (hopefully) fortune by pitting your self against traps, giants, and other nasty things (like the opposing runners). It's a race to the finish where style counts and sportsmanship has not been invented yet. (Also see follow-up event at 4:00 pm!)
* Saturday 3:00 pm - Saturday 5:00 pm *Gaming Room* Terror in the Skies *GameMaster: BillKorsak* (up to 4 players) Unknown Armies. A routine flight takes an unexpected turn and 4 ordinary people will have to save the life of the crew and passengers. Characters provided and rules taught.
* Saturday 4:00 pm - Saturday 5:00 pm *Gaming Room* Dead Man's Treasure *GameMaster: JenniferToby* (3 to 5 players) In Dead Man's Treasure, players compete to gain the most valuable treasure on a chain of six islands. Deploy your crew secretly to the islands in your quest for the loot, but watch out for booby traps, lest you find yourself on the bottom of the briny deep. It's strategy and terror on the high seas as you seek out the Dead Man's Treasure!
* Saturday 4:00 pm - Saturday 5:00 pm *Gaming Room* Extreme! *GameMaster: BluePanther* (2 to 8 players) You are an Extreme! athlete, trying your hand at a variety of Extreme! sports. But be careful. Extreme! sports pose Extreme! risks. Injuries can happen at any time. Choose your sport, roll the dice, and try to have the longest, most Extreme! career! A humorous “injury management” game about Extreme! sports.
* Saturday 4:00 pm - Saturday 6:00 pm *Gaming Room* Call Of Cthulhu: The Transgression of Effram Harris *GameMaster: WilliamJones* (up to 6 players) There are things beyond human understanding, and there are barriers in the universe to protect us from that knowledge. When a scientist in New York City undertakes an experiment that transgresses these barriers, bridging unseen realities, it is up to a scattered group of investigators to unravel the mystery and avoid the horror. This is a 1920s Cthulhu RPG for new and experienced players.

The cut-throat action is centered on the industrial powerhouses of the growing nation: Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Chicago and beyond.
