| More seriously, it is a painless and fun way for newbies to learn the fundamentals of firearms safety, and for them (//and// experienced shooters) to have an opportunity to handle and shoot a variety of hand- and long guns in the company of other 'Con attendees. The cost is minimal (in 2013, the range fee will be $10, various arms will be available to borrow, and we will 'pass the hat' to pay for ammo, at $35ish a box), and the company is excellent. | More seriously, it is a painless and fun way for newbies to learn the fundamentals of firearms safety, and for them (//and// experienced shooters) to have an opportunity to handle and shoot a variety of guns in the company of other 'Con attendees.
